The increase in wildfires across Europe has not gone unnoticed. Researchers are working hard at identifying ways the EU can strengthen itself now in order to build a resilient future under climate change.
Dana Salpina, Veronica Casartelli, Angelica Marengo, and Jaroslav Mysiak published their article Understanding cross-sectoral wildfire risk governance: Lessons from mix-method analysis of wildfire risk governance in Italy, Greece, and Land Brandenburg in Volume 142 of International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction.
Overall, the findings point at the limits of sector-by-sector responses and the need for what the authors call “whole-of-government” or “whole-of-society” approaches to the growing wildfire risk.
