Climate Collaboration: South Central Texas’s multi-year resilience efforts paying off

Miles Baker takes a look at how local governments, communities, and businesses in South Central Texas are planning ahead when it comes to extreme weather in an article for the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES).

The region is part of C2ES’s Climate Resilient Communities Accelerator, a multi-year initiative bringing together 60 cross-sector leaders focused on tackling extreme heat, wildfire, and flooding hazards common to the area.

“Meaningful progress is possible at every scale and across every sector,” writes Baker, emphasising one of the key takeaways is that resilience planning doesn’t need to start with big budgets or federal support. Community-lead initiatives are just as crucial to long-term resilience and recovery.
