As the surrounding areas face reoccurring infrastructure challenges and water service interruptions, Fort Buchanan highlights the success of the rainwater harvesting program it began in 2018 in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
“Each system is engineered to sustain its assigned facility with potable water for at least 14 days without rainfall,” explains Cuebas. Transportable and powered by solar energy, this system model is a great asset to geographically isolated communities.
