The province of British Columbia, Canada, announced funding to “ensure inclusivity and respect for Indigenous Peoples during emergencies.”
The province recognizes the importance of having access to culturally sensitive support during times of crisis, something essential to both the safety and well-being of Indigenous Peoples.
Approximately $1 million will be allocated to providing cultural and humility training to staff and volunteers. The funding will also go towards helping First Nations and local governments create more inclusive emergency management plans.
