Disaster Recovery: IAEA increasing support for non-destructive testing

In an article for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Kate Schaal and Ayhan Evrensel discuss the wide-spread damages earthquakes pose globally every day, and how non-destructive testing (NDT) helps evaluate structural integrity without damaging structures in the process.

NDT encompasses a variety of techniques, including “industrial radiography, ultrasonic testing, liquid penetrant inspection and magnetic particle inspection.”

In an effort to build resilience and knowledge around these crucial techniques for assessing infrastructure safety, the IAEA recently increased its NDT services while also opening a new training center and issuing guidelines.

Access the guidelines here or read on to learn more.
