The Global Center on Adaption (GCA), in partnership with the International Coalition on Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI), released a new guide, Gender-Responsive and Socially Inclusive Climate-resilient Infrastructure: A Practitioner’s User Guide on Incorporating Gender.
“Climate hazards do not exist in isolation; they interact with and exacerbate social inequalities,” the preface explains, emphasizing the need to integrate existing inequalities into climate resilience and infrastructure planning from the beginning instead of treating them as separate, unrelated issues.
They also released a companion Case Study Booklet alongside the guide, focusing on the transport and energy sectors. Though the content focuses on Bangladesh, the themes covered provide a valuable reference guide and touch point for the wider industry.
